Introduction to North East

  • Day 1: Guwahati, Assam

    Arrive in Guwahati, the gateway to North East India. Visit the revered Kamakhya Temple, one of the oldest Shakti Peethas. Take a serene cruise on the Brahmaputra River and visit the Umananda Temple located on Peacock Island. In the evening, stroll through the local markets to get a feel of the city.

  • Day 2: Shillong, Meghalaya

    Travel to Shillong, known as the "Scotland of the East." En route, stop at the breathtaking Umiam Lake. Upon arrival, explore Ward's Lake, Shillong Peak for panoramic views, and the beautiful Lady Hydari Park. Visit the Don Bosco Museum to learn about the region's culture and history.

  • Day 3: Cherrapunji, Meghalaya

    Head to Cherrapunji, famous for its living root bridges and being one of the wettest places on Earth. Visit the Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, and Mawsmai Cave. Take a trek to see the impressive Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat. End the day with a visit to the eco-park.

  • Day 4: Mawlynnong and Dawki, Meghalaya

    Travel to Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village. Enjoy a walk through the village, visit the living root bridge, and climb the Sky View Point for views of Bangladesh. Continue to Dawki, where you can take a boat ride on the crystal-clear Umngot River and visit the Indo-Bangladesh border.

  • Day 5: Kaziranga National Park, Assam

    Drive to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its one-horned rhinoceros. In the afternoon, embark on a jeep safari through the park's western range to spot rhinos, elephants, and other wildlife. Enjoy a traditional Assamese dinner and cultural dance performance in the evening.

  • Day 6: Kaziranga National Park, Assam

    Start your day with an early morning elephant safari for a close encounter with the park's wildlife. Visit the nearby orchid and biodiversity park to see a variety of orchids and medicinal plants. In the afternoon, take another jeep safari through the central range of the park.

  • Day 7: Majuli, Assam

    Travel to Majuli, the world's largest river island, situated on the Brahmaputra River. Explore the island's unique Vaishnavite culture by visiting the satras (monasteries) such as Kamalabari Satra and Auniati Satra. Enjoy the serene landscapes, interact with the local Mishing tribes, and witness traditional mask-making.

  • Day 8: Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh

    Drive to Ziro, a picturesque valley in Arunachal Pradesh. Visit the Ziro Puto for panoramic views and the Tarin Fish Farm. Explore the Apatani tribal villages, where you can learn about their unique customs, traditional tattooing, and nose plugs. Visit the Hong Village, one of the largest and most organized tribal villages in Asia.

  • Day 9: Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh

    Travel to Tawang, a high-altitude town known for its stunning landscapes and spiritual significance. En route, stop at Sela Pass, one of the highest motorable passes, and the beautiful Sela Lake. In Tawang, visit the Tawang Monastery, the largest in India, and the War Memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

  • Day 10: Tawang and Departure

    Explore more of Tawang by visiting the picturesque Nuranang Falls and the tranquil Pankang Teng Tso Lake. Spend some time at the local markets for souvenirs before heading back to Guwahati for your departure, taking with you memories of the enchanting North East India.
